Ingredients

- 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup flour (or chickpea flour for gluten-free)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- In a food processor, combine chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Pulse until coarsely blended.
- Add flour and pulse until mixture holds together but is not smooth.
- Form mixture into small patties, about 2 inches in diameter.
- Brush or spray both sides of patties with olive oil.
- Place patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch.
- Cook for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
- Remove from air fryer and serve immediately.
Notes
- For spicier falafel, add cayenne pepper to the mixture.
- Serve with tahini sauce or yogurt dip for added flavor.
- Store uncooked patties in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before cooking.
