Description

Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces canned crushed tomatoes
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until softened.
  4. Add ground beef, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper.
  7. Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  8. Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce. Repeat layers, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
  10. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

  • For added flavor, use fresh herbs instead of dried.
  • Consider adding sautéed mushrooms or spinach for variation.
  • For a spicier kick, incorporate red pepper flakes into the meat sauce.
