- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 ounces canned crushed tomatoes
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until softened.
- Add ground beef, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper.
- Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce. Repeat layers, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For added flavor, use fresh herbs instead of dried.
- Consider adding sautéed mushrooms or spinach for variation.
- For a spicier kick, incorporate red pepper flakes into the meat sauce.
