Description
Black and white cookies are a classic treat perfect for New Year celebrations. They feature a soft, cake-like texture topped with half chocolate and half vanilla icing.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3–4 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla, mixing well.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
- Drop tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool completely.
- Mix powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and water to make chocolate icing.
- Spread chocolate icing on half of each cookie.
- Mix remaining powdered sugar with water for vanilla icing.
- Spread vanilla icing on the other half of each cookie.

- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- These cookies can be made ahead of time.
