Description
Borracho beans are flavorful, seasoned beans cooked in beer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups pinto beans
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup beer
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jalapeño, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Soak the pinto beans overnight in water.
- Drain and rinse the beans.
- In a pot, combine beans, 4 cups of water, beer, onion, garlic, and jalapeño.
- Add cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Check beans for tenderness and adjust seasoning if needed.
Notes
- Serve with rice or tortillas.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Beans can be cooked in a slow cooker for convenience.
