Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup diced apples
- 1 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine applesauce, oil, eggs, and vanilla.
- Blend dry and wet ingredients until smooth.
- Fold in diced apples.
- Pour batter into a greased cake pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before drizzling with caramel sauce.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Serve with whipped cream for extra flavor.
- Substitute applesauce with mashed bananas for a twist.
