Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup cherries, pitted and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter until smooth.
  4. Add buttermilk, eggs, and almond extract to the butter; mix well.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients.
  6. Fold in cherries and poppy seeds.
  7. Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool before slicing.
