A festive cake inspired by Chinese New Year traditions.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Red and gold decorations
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in milk and vanilla extract.
- Combine flour and baking powder, then gradually add to the wet mixture.
- Divide batter between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
- Decorate with red and gold decorations once cooled.
Notes
- Use food coloring for a more festive look.
- Consider adding a filling between the layers.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
