Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 to 5 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until golden.
  8. Let cookies cool on a wire rack.
  9. Mix confectioners’ sugar, milk, and food coloring to make icing.
  10. Decorate cooled cookies with icing.
