- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons rosemary
- 2 tablespoons thyme
- 1 cup diced onions
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 cup diced carrots
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry.
- Rub the turkey with butter and season with salt, pepper, rosemary, and thyme.
- Stuff the turkey cavity with onions, celery, and carrots.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom.
- Cover with foil and roast for 2.5 to 3 hours.
- Remove the foil during the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- For added flavor, brine the turkey overnight.
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
