Description

A traditional Christmas roast dinner featuring succulent meats and seasonal vegetables.


Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 pounds)
  • 4 cups stuffing mix
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 cups mixed vegetables (carrots, Brussels sprouts, and parsnips)
  • 2 cups gravy
  • 1 cup cranberry sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the stuffing by mixing stuffing mix, chicken broth, melted butter, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Stuff the turkey with the prepared stuffing and place it in a roasting pan.
  4. Season the outside of the turkey with salt and pepper.
  5. Roast the turkey for about 3 to 3.5 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. In the last hour, add mixed vegetables around the turkey.
  7. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
  8. Serve with gravy and cranberry sauce.

Notes

  • Make sure to baste the turkey every 30 minutes.
  • Use kitchen twine to tie the legs of the turkey for even cooking.
  • Leftover turkey can be used in sandwiches or soups.
