Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sugar for coating
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon for coating

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Add vegetable oil and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pan to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Put the dough in a piping bag with a star tip.
  6. Squeeze the dough into the hot oil, cutting it into 4-inch lengths.
  7. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Roll churros in the mixture.
  9. Serve warm with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche.

Notes

  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying.
  • Use a piping bag for uniform churros.
  • Store leftover churros in an airtight container.
