A festive clock cake for New Year’s Eve celebration.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fondant for decoration
  • Edible silver and gold sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  6. Mix in vanilla extract.
  7. Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk.
  8. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let the cakes cool completely.
  11. Level the cakes and stack them.
  12. Cover the cake with fondant and decorate with edible sprinkles to resemble a clock.

Notes

  • Use food coloring to tint the fondant if desired.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
  • Make ahead of time and store in the refrigerator.
