- 2 large onions, sliced into rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Slice onions into rings and separate them.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Dip onion rings into the flour mixture, then into buttermilk, and back into the flour mixture.
- Coat the rings with breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels and serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra crunch, double coat the rings.
- You can add spices to the flour mixture for flavor variations.
- Serve with dipping sauces for added taste.
