Description
A rich custard bread pudding served with a smooth vanilla sauce.
Ingredients

- 4 cups of bread cubes
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 4 large eggs
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine milk, cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add the bread cubes to the mixture and stir until well coated.
- Let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb the liquid.
- Grease a baking dish with melted butter.
- Transfer the bread mixture to the baking dish.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until set and golden brown.
- While baking, prepare the vanilla sauce.
- In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch over medium heat.
- Stir until it thickens and add vanilla extract.
- Serve the bread pudding warm with vanilla sauce on top.
Notes
- Use day-old bread for better texture.
- Can be made a day in advance and reheated.
- Top with whipped cream or fresh berries if desired.
