Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish.
  4. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  5. Add flour, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until smooth.
  6. Gradually add heavy cream and milk, stirring constantly.
  7. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  8. Pour half of the sauce over the potatoes.
  9. Sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  10. Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, sauce, and cheese.
  11. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  12. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until golden.
