Description
A traditional Dominican Thanksgiving dinner featuring classic dishes.
Ingredients
- Roasted turkey – 1 whole (10-12 lbs)
- Garlic – 6 cloves
- Onion – 2 large
- Bell pepper – 1 large
- Oregano – 2 teaspoons
- Thyme – 1 teaspoon
- Lemon – 1
- Olive oil – 1/4 cup
- Salt – to taste
- Pepper – to taste
- Rice – 2 cups
- Black beans – 1 can
- Avocado – 1
- Plantains – 2
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare turkey by seasoning with garlic, onion, bell pepper, oregano, thyme, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Place turkey in a roasting pan and cover with foil.
- Roast turkey for 2.5 to 3 hours, removing foil for the last 30 minutes.
- Cook rice according to package instructions.
- Heat black beans in a pot.
- Fry plantains until golden brown.
- Slice avocado just before serving.
- Serve turkey with rice, black beans, plantains, and avocado.
Notes
- Rest turkey for 20 minutes before carving.
- Adjust seasonings to taste.
- Use leftovers for sandwiches.
