Description

French crullers are light and airy pastries made from a choux pastry dough, fried until golden brown and coated in a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Allow to cool slightly, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Pipe dough into donut shapes and fry until golden, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. Mix powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze.
  9. Dip crullers in glaze and let set.
