Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup unsulfured molasses
  • Royal icing for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugars until light.
  4. Add egg and molasses to the butter mixture, mixing well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  6. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
  7. Roll out the dough and cut into shapes.
  8. Place on baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes.
  9. Let cool before decorating with royal icing.
