Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix sourdough starter, milk, sugar, melted butter, and eggs.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, and yeast.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1-2 hours, until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thick and cut out donut shapes.
  7. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry the donuts until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  9. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  10. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  11. Dip warm donuts into the glaze and allow to set.
