Description

Delicious Hershey’s chocolate cake with cream cheese filling and chocolate cream cheese buttercream.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix well.
  5. Stir in boiling water until combined.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.
  9. For the cream cheese filling, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  10. Spread cream cheese filling between the cooled cake layers.
  11. For the buttercream, beat butter and cocoa until smooth, then add powdered sugar and milk to achieve desired consistency.
  12. Frost the top and sides of the cake with chocolate cream cheese buttercream.
