Description

A simple and delicious homemade banana pudding recipe.


Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups milk
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 box of vanilla wafers
  • whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, mix sugar, flour, and salt.
  2. Slowly whisk in milk until smooth.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until thickened.
  4. In a bowl, beat egg yolks, then slowly add some of the hot mixture to temper the eggs.
  5. Return the egg mixture to the saucepan and cook for 2 more minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  7. Layer pudding, banana slices, and vanilla wafers in a dish.
  8. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
  9. Top with whipped cream.

Notes

  • Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
  • Use ripe bananas for best flavor.
