Description

Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 10 minutes on a floured surface.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
- Place the loaf on a baking sheet. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Make slashes on the top of the loaf. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let the bread cool before slicing.
Notes
- Use bread flour for a chewier texture.
- Store bread in a paper bag to keep it fresh.
- You can add herbs for extra flavor.
