Traditional Japanese cookies made for the New Year celebration.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of butter, softened
- 1/4 cup of milk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light.
- Add the egg and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Add milk and mix until combined.
- Shape dough into small balls and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool before serving.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- Cookies can be decorated with icing.
- Adjust sugar to taste.
