Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz mochi rice
- 6 cups water
- 1 cup sweet red bean paste
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 2 cups vegetables (carrots, daikon, etc.)
- 1 lb fish (sashimi grade)
Instructions
- Soak mochi rice overnight.
- Steam the soaked rice until cooked.
- Mold the rice into small cakes.
- Prepare sweet red bean paste for serving.
- Chop vegetables and prepare them for cooking.
- Slice fish into sashimi pieces.
- Serve all dishes together on a platter.

- Use fresh ingredients for best results.
- Traditionally served on January 1st.
- Can add other ingredients like shrimp or chicken.
