A hearty baked ziti dish that is rich and satisfying.
Ingredients

- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 jars (24 ounces each) marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce and let simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper.
- Combine cooked ziti with meat sauce and ricotta mixture.
- Transfer half of the ziti mixture to a baking dish. Layer half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.
- Add the remaining ziti mixture and top with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Notes
- Allow the dish to cool slightly before serving.
- Can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
- Substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
