Description
Mississippi mud cake bars are rich chocolate treats with a fudgy texture and a gooey topping.
Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat.
- Stir in the granulated and brown sugars until combined.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in flour, cocoa powder, and vanilla until smooth.
- Fold in nuts if desired.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle marshmallows and chocolate chips on top.
- Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes until marshmallows are soft.
- Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container.
- Best served warm.
- Can be frozen for later use.
