Description

Mississippi mud cake bars are rich chocolate treats with a fudgy texture and a gooey topping.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  3. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat.
  4. Stir in the granulated and brown sugars until combined.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  6. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  7. Stir in flour, cocoa powder, and vanilla until smooth.
  8. Fold in nuts if desired.
  9. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle marshmallows and chocolate chips on top.
  12. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes until marshmallows are soft.
  13. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
