Mulled Wine Recipe: 7 Steps to Cozy Comfort

Description

A warm spiced red wine drink perfect for winter.


Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of red wine (750ml)
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1/4 cup of honey or sugar
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 2 star anise
  • 1/4 cup of brandy (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pour the red wine into a large pot.
  2. Add the sliced orange, lemon, honey or sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise.
  3. Heat over medium heat until warm, but do not let it boil.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
  5. If using, stir in the brandy just before serving.
  6. Strain the mixture and serve warm in mugs or heatproof glasses.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness to your taste.
  • Garnish with additional fruit slices if desired.
  • Can be made a day in advance and reheated.
