A deliciously unique caramel spice cake with rich flavors.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  3. In a bowl, cream together butter, sugar, and brown sugar.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
  5. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
  7. Pour in caramel sauce and mix until combined.
  8. Divide batter into prepared pans.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Check with a toothpick.
  10. Let cakes cool before removing from pans.
  11. Frost with your choice of icing and drizzle with more caramel sauce.
