- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two round cake pans.
- In a bowl, cream together butter, sugar, and brown sugar.
- Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
- Pour in caramel sauce and mix until combined.
- Divide batter into prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes. Check with a toothpick.
- Let cakes cool before removing from pans.
- Frost with your choice of icing and drizzle with more caramel sauce.
