Description

Nian Gao is a traditional Chinese New Year cake made from glutinous rice flour. It symbolizes prosperity and is often enjoyed during celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups glutinous rice flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup red bean paste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Mix glutinous rice flour and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Add water gradually and stir until smooth.
  3. Grease a cake pan with vegetable oil.
  4. Pour half the batter into the pan.
  5. Add a layer of red bean paste on top.
  6. Pour the remaining batter over the bean paste.
  7. Steam the cake for 45 minutes.
  8. Let it cool before slicing.
