Classic old fashioned banana pudding made with layers of vanilla wafers, fresh bananas, and creamy pudding.


Ingredients

  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whipped cream

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks and add milk gradually.
  3. Combine the milk mixture with the dry ingredients in the saucepan.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.
  6. In a serving dish, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding.
  7. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
  8. Top with whipped cream.
  9. Chill before serving.
