One of the very best Salisbury steak recipes, a comforting classic.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Shape the mixture into patties.
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the patties until browned, about 4 minutes per side.
- Remove patties and set aside.
- Add mushrooms to the skillet and sauté until softened.
- Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and stir to combine.
- Gradually add beef broth, stirring until thickened.
- Return patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
