Description
A classic roasted turkey recipe for Thanksgiving.
Ingredients

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 carrots, chopped
- 3 celery stalks, chopped
- 4 cups bread cubes
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and patting it dry.
- In a bowl, mix butter, salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, and sage.
- Rub the butter mixture under the skin and on the outside of the turkey.
- In a large pan, sauté onion, carrots, and celery until soft.
- Add bread cubes to the pan and mix well.
- Stuff the turkey with the bread mixture.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth over it.
- Cover with foil and roast for 3-3.5 hours, removing the foil in the last hour.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
- Let leftovers cool before storing.
- Can substitute fresh herbs for dried herbs.
