Description

A traditional Persian dessert served during the New Year celebration.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of rice
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/4 cup of rose water
  • 1/4 cup of chopped pistachios
  • 1/4 cup of chopped almonds
  • 1/4 teaspoon of saffron
  • 1 teaspoon of cardamom
  • 1/4 cup of dried fruits

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice and soak it for 2 hours.
  2. In a pot, combine milk, sugar, and rice. Cook on low heat.
  3. Add rose water, saffron, and cardamom. Stir well.
  4. Cook until the mixture thickens, stirring frequently.
  5. Once thick, remove from heat and let it cool.
  6. Serve in bowls and garnish with pistachios, almonds, and dried fruits.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness to your preference.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving.
  • This dessert can be made a day in advance.
