Description

A simple and hearty dish made with pork and sauerkraut, cooked slowly in a crockpot.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1 jar (32 ounces) sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
  2. Place the sliced onion in the bottom of the crockpot.
  3. Layer the drained sauerkraut over the onions.
  4. Add the sliced apples on top of the sauerkraut.
  5. Place the seasoned pork shoulder on top.
  6. Pour the chicken broth over the pork.
  7. Sprinkle caraway seeds on top.
  8. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender.

Notes

  • Serve with mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
  • This dish can be frozen for later use.
