Description
A simple and hearty dish made with pork and sauerkraut, cooked slowly in a crockpot.
Ingredients

- 2 pounds pork shoulder
- 1 jar (32 ounces) sauerkraut, drained
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
- Place the sliced onion in the bottom of the crockpot.
- Layer the drained sauerkraut over the onions.
- Add the sliced apples on top of the sauerkraut.
- Place the seasoned pork shoulder on top.
- Pour the chicken broth over the pork.
- Sprinkle caraway seeds on top.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender.
Notes
- Serve with mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
- This dish can be frozen for later use.
