A traditional Puerto Rican dish featuring turkey, perfect for Thanksgiving.
Ingredients

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon adobo seasoning
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup sofrito
- 1 cup vinegar
- 2 oranges, juiced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Clean the turkey and pat it dry.
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, adobo, oregano, vinegar, and orange juice.
- Rub the mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
- Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2 hours.
- Remove the foil and roast for another hour or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
- Brine the turkey overnight for more flavor.
- Adjust seasoning according to your taste.
- Serve with rice and beans for a complete meal.
