Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, combine oil, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla.
  5. Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  6. Add purple food coloring and stir until the color is even.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  10. Frost with cream cheese frosting once completely cooled.
