Delicious red velvet cookie bars with cream cheese frosting.

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add the egg, vanilla, and red food coloring to the butter mixture.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
- Spread the batter in a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the bars cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Spread the frosting over the cooled bars.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- For more flavor, add chocolate chips.
- Let the bars set before cutting for cleaner slices.
