Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla, and red food coloring to the butter mixture.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  6. Spread the batter in a greased baking dish.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the bars cool completely.
  9. For the frosting, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Spread the frosting over the cooled bars.
