Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • Fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, sage)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
  4. Season the turkey inside and out with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  5. Stuff the turkey cavity with onion, carrots, celery, and fresh herbs.
  6. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
  7. Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
  8. Roast for about 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  9. Remove the foil in the last 30 minutes for a golden-brown skin.
  10. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

  • Brining the turkey overnight can enhance flavor and moisture.
