Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons meringue powder
  • 6 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add egg and vanilla to the butter mixture and blend well.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients.
  6. Roll out the dough and cut shapes with cookie cutters.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden.
  8. Let cookies cool completely before icing.
  9. In a bowl, combine powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water to make royal icing.
  10. Decorate cookies with royal icing as desired.
