Description
Decorative royal icing cookies for Christmas.
Ingredients

- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons meringue powder
- 6 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla to the butter mixture and blend well.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients.
- Roll out the dough and cut shapes with cookie cutters.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool completely before icing.
- In a bowl, combine powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water to make royal icing.
- Decorate cookies with royal icing as desired.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- Use food coloring to tint royal icing if desired.
