Delicious snickerdoodle apple pie bars with a cinnamon twist.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups peeled and sliced apples
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon sugar for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- In a separate bowl, toss apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Spread half of the dough in a greased baking dish.
- Layer the spiced apples over the dough.
- Drop remaining dough over the apples in spoonfuls.
- Sprinkle sugar on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
Notes
- Use tart apples for best flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
