Description
A traditional soul food Thanksgiving dinner featuring classic dishes.
Ingredients
- Roast turkey – 1 (12 lb)
- Collard greens – 2 lbs
- Macaroni and cheese – 1 large casserole
- Sweet potatoes – 4 large
- Cornbread – 1 batch
- Stuffing – 1 box
- Gravy – 2 cups
- Cranberry sauce – 1 can
- Pecan pie – 1 pie
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F.
- Prepare the turkey by seasoning it and placing it in a roasting pan.
- Roast the turkey for 3-4 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- While the turkey is roasting, prepare the collard greens by simmering them with seasoning.
- Cook the macaroni and cheese according to the package instructions.
- Bake the sweet potatoes until soft, then mash them with butter and sugar.
- Prepare cornbread according to the recipe and bake.
- Prepare the stuffing as instructed on the box.
- Make the gravy using the turkey drippings.
- Serve the turkey with sides of collard greens, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, cornbread, stuffing, and gravy.
- Finish the meal with cranberry sauce and pecan pie for dessert.
Notes
- Make sure to let the turkey rest before carving.
- Use leftover turkey for sandwiches the next day.
