A traditional Southern Thanksgiving menu featuring classic dishes.
Ingredients
- Turkey – 1 whole (12-14 lbs)
- Butter – 1 cup
- Salt – 2 tablespoons
- Pepper – 1 tablespoon
- Garlic powder – 1 tablespoon
- Onion powder – 1 tablespoon
- Fresh herbs (sage, thyme, rosemary) – 1/4 cup
- Stuffing – 1 box
- Green beans – 2 lbs
- Corn – 2 cans
- Mashed potatoes – 5 lbs
- Milk – 1 cup
- Gravy – 2 cups
- Pecan pie – 1 pie
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Prepare the turkey by rubbing butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and herbs all over.
- Stuff the turkey with the prepared stuffing.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and cover with foil.
- Roast the turkey for 3-4 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- While the turkey is roasting, prepare the green beans by steaming them.
- Open the cans of corn and heat them in a pot.
- Boil the potatoes, then mash with milk and butter.
- Prepare gravy as directed on the package.
- Serve the turkey with all the sides and finish with a slice of pecan pie.
Notes
- Let the turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
