Description

A delicious spiced pear upside down cake that combines the sweetness of pears with warm spices.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt butter and brown sugar in a pan, then pour it into a cake pan.
  3. Arrange pear slices on top of the sugar mixture.
  4. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. In another bowl, beat granulated sugar and eggs until fluffy.
  6. Add vanilla and milk to the egg mixture, then combine with dry ingredients.
  7. Spread the batter over the pears in the pan.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.
