Description

A creative twist on traditional sushi using strawberries and cake.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 package of thin sponge cake
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until clear.
  2. Combine rice and water in a pot and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes.
  5. Mix sugar, rice vinegar, and vanilla extract into the rice.
  6. Spread the rice on a sheet of plastic wrap.
  7. Layer sponge cake over the rice.
  8. Add whipped cream and sliced strawberries on top.
  9. Roll the sushi tightly using the plastic wrap.
  10. Slice into pieces and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
