Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, mirin, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Place salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  4. Remove salmon from marinade and reserve the marinade for later use.
  5. Grill salmon for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.
  6. In a saucepan, bring reserved marinade to a boil. Mix cornstarch with water and add to the saucepan to thicken the sauce.
  7. Once thickened, glaze the salmon with the sauce before serving.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the marinade.
  • Serve with steamed rice and sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
