  • 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
  • 6 cups sliced apples
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.
  3. Add chilled butter and mix until crumbly.
  4. Stir in ice water until dough forms.
  5. Divide dough in half and roll out each half.
  6. Place one rolled dough in a pie pan.
  7. In another bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  8. Pour apple mixture into the pie crust.
  9. Cover with the second pie crust and cut slits for steam.
  10. Brush with beaten egg.
  11. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  12. Let cool before serving.
