A collection of traditional dishes for Thanksgiving celebrated by Black families.
Ingredients
- Turkey – 1 whole (12-14 lbs)
- Collard Greens – 2 lbs
- Macaroni and Cheese – 1 lb
- Sweet Potatoes – 3 lbs
- Cornbread – 1 batch
- Stuffing – 1 batch
- Cranberry Sauce – 1 can
- Pecan Pie – 1 pie
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F.
- Prepare the turkey by seasoning it and placing it in a roasting pan.
- Cook the turkey for about 3-4 hours until fully cooked.
- Wash and chop collard greens, then simmer in a pot with seasoning.
- Boil sweet potatoes, then mash with butter and brown sugar.
- Prepare macaroni and cheese by boiling pasta and mixing it with cheese and milk.
- Bake cornbread according to package instructions.
- Prepare stuffing as per the recipe.
- Serve cranberry sauce cold.
- Slice and serve pecan pie for dessert.

- Let the turkey rest before carving.
- Use leftover turkey for sandwiches.
