Ingredients

- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons meringue powder
- water as needed for icing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add egg and vanilla, mixing well.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients.
- Roll out dough and cut into shapes.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden.
- Cool cookies on wire racks.
- In a bowl, combine powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water to make royal icing.
- Decorate cooled cookies with royal icing.

- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- Use gel colors for icing for better vibrancy.
- Let icing dry completely before stacking cookies.
