Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • Royal icing for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Mix well.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Mix until combined.
  6. Chill the dough for 1 hour.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
  8. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters.
  9. Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  11. Let cookies cool completely before decorating.
