- 1 loaf of day-old cornbread, crumbled
- 1 cup of diced celery
- 1 cup of diced onion
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter
- 4 cups of chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon of sage
- 1 tablespoon of thyme
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 2 large eggs, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add celery and onion, sauté until softened.
- In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, sautéed vegetables, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in chicken broth and mix well.
- Add beaten eggs and stir until combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown on top.
Notes
- Use homemade cornbread for best flavor.
- Adjust seasoning to your taste.
- For a richer flavor, add cooked sausage or bacon.
